What I should have done during my college years:

1. Get a part-time job

It was always on my mind to have a sideline job while studying but I was always making an excuse on why I should not, my fear got me and now that I've graduated, I realized that I made the wrong decision of just focusing on my studies because there's so many online jobs in the Philippines for students that would have helped me save money for my leisures and also, would have helped me get and hone skills.      I know that in the Philippines, it is fairly easy to get a job especially with the course that I took but I took the path less taken and went abroad as a fresher with Z E R O experience and it sucks. Also, I've always wanted to travel but even I can't do that because I only have 75 USD to my name.

2. Work hard,party harder

I'll be honest, I didn't have any proper social life during my college years. I buried myself in our textbooks and if not, I kept cancelling plans worth friends in fear of failing my subjects. I AM TELLING YOU, YOU CAN BALANCE BOTH AT THE SAME TIME!       Just know how to manage your time but I realized that too late (like last 8 months before graduation) and I wish I had known that earlier; I should have rebelled a bit earlier than intended because now as an unemployed potato, I have no friends to go out with and it's pretty lonely.      Okay, you might tell me that this is because I'm far from my friends but nope. I doubt I would gave anyone to go with even if I'm in the Philippines and maybe you'd think this is self-pity, maybe it is but I swear this is 90% accurate.

3. Learn a skill outside the classroom

It has always been part of my plans to take a short course on graphic design but sadly, I did not take any opportunity to take the course.     This is one of the reasons why I regret not taking a part-time job during college because I have always been prideful to ask more money from my parents when it comes to this type of situation.     My course was a trimestral and it was hard for me to enroll to classes because of 7 am -7 pm schedule and then, I was too tired during the weekends. My one week term-breaks were spent in uni for clearance and enrollment, and that time when we had a calendar shift and git a 2-month vacation? Yep, I spent it solely with my family.

4. Study Abroad

I have always wanted to study internationally but I thought that it would be too expensive but I wish I knew back then what I know now because there's a lot of universities in Europe that offers affordable education to international students. Some universities have the same tuition fees as the popular universities in the Philippines.

There's a lot of benefits when you get a college degree abroad, not only will it give you a ticket to a broader range of opportunities in and out of the country, it will also expose you to a different culture and will help you become more independent and open.

I'm not saying that education in the Philippines has bad quality because I really did learn a lot but it's just that with the same price, I would have gotten a different college experience and have more doors open for me.

CONCLUSION:

THE ONLY ONE THAT'S STOPPING YOU IS YOURSELF. If you wanna do something that you know that could help you grow as a person, then JUST DO IT. DO NOT WAIT FOR AN OPPORTUNITY,  YOU CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN.

So for all the college students and senior high school students out there; manage your time wisely, and have courage.
